Council Elections 2007

I am extremely proud to have been re-elected to serve on WDC for another four years representing the new Leven Ward. I would like to thank all my Comrades in the Scottish Socialist Party for their immense super human effort in the campaign. I would also like to thank all the 1,469 Constituents who voted for the SSP. The SSP will continue to be a voice for the disenfranchised and those who have been excluded by Blair's "New Labour" experiment which is coming of the rails in Scotland.

The struggle to redistribute wealth and power continues, as does the fight against poverty and inequality.

I will be arranging additional surgeries soon to cover all the areas in the Leven Ward to make sure I can be accessible and accountable to every Constituent in the Leven Ward. See local press for details.

I am so glad you got back in Jim.

I am NOT going to congratulate you Jim,WHY,well when I see what you will be fighting in the coming years the word "congratulate" is not one I would use. When I see what is to come all I can say is may GOD go with you Jim. It has been a TOTAL Disaster apart from you. What/how can people be thinking is beyond me. People are about to find this to be true...

Not one socialist elected to Holyrood. That tells you what Scotland`s future will be. What you sow is what you will reap.

Congratulations Jim. The SSP has taken a pounding overall, but the blame for that lies squarely with Sheridan and the SWP/CWI sectarians who used the whole affair as an excuse to attack and undermine one of the most succesful left regroupment projects in the world. A socialist movement can recover from an honourable defeat, but socialism cannot be built on a basis of lies and hypocrisy. That is why the SSP, not Solidarity, holds the key to the future of socialism in Scotland. Congratulations again.

"Our regional newspaper, The Evenign Chronicle, carried an article a few weeks ago about a group of law firms that had made over £250 million out of the taxpayer by dealing with miners' compensation claims. That didn't really attract my attention. After all, they were doing their legitimate work and were rightly paid to take on the cases of miners for whom they successfully won compensation for the diseases and injuries caused by working in the mining industry. One firm alone, Thompsons, made £100 million."

"What did attract my attention was the attack on the firms made by Kevan Jones, Labour MP for Durham North, next door to Blaydon. Mr Jones described the money made in fees by the firms as a "feeding frenzy by lawyers."

"But hold on a moment, didn't Thompsons advertise in Dave Anderson's literature, just before the general election? I went off to check my collection of leaflets and sure enough, a large advert was included in a glossy colour Labour leaflet encouraging miners to claim compensation through Thompsons."

"And a quick check on the Electoral Commission website found Thompsons had made a donation for printing to Blaydon Labour Party in March 2005 of nearly £5000."

"Mr Anderson loves to posture as the working class socialist defending the downtrodden workers against the capitalist oppressors. But it's also interesting to learn that he is ready to have his election campaign at least partly bankrolled by a successful capitalist concern! A case of having your capitalist cake and eating it!"

Hold on Nick Raynsford joined the Government in 1997 and held responsibility for housing, planning and construction as well as being Minister for London. Was Minister for Local and Regional Government in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister from 2001 to 2005. Left the Government after the 2005 General Election.

Is also a Non-executive Director of Hometrack. Has an interest in a company that will do these the new home information packs?.
